Jainism is an ancient Indian religion (perhaps oldest one in the world) followed by several million people in India and by a sizeable Jain diaspora in UK, USA and other countries. Its values are based on non-violence and reverence for all life (ahimsa), non-attachment to the material world (aparigraha), pluralism (anekantavad) and introspection, calmness of self and spiritual liberation by self-effort. Jains believe in friendship to all and malice to none, improvement of quality of life for all, compassion, equality, animal welfare, environment enhancement and peace. It is the Art of Loving, the Art of Living and the Art of Leaving.
