The Jain Network (JN) is a registered charity and a non-profit company in England and Wales, launched in March 2007 as a result of the merger of Jain Sangha of Europe, Jain Academy and Ahimsa for Quality of Life. Its mission is improvement of spiritual and physical quality of life of Jain and wider community.
In order to realise the above vision in the most effective way, Jain Network acquired a substantial property in 2010 for the development of the Jain Centre London. It is situated in Colindale, North West London amidst the major Jain population residing in the boroughs of Barnet, Brent and Harrow. It is well connected by major roads and public transport and is within easy reach from central London. London being the premier world capital for business, culture, innovation and finance, the centre is well suited to act as an international hub for education, culture and community services.
British Government, media, statutory and other institutions in the United Kingdom engage with the nine major historical world faiths including Jainism. As a result, on major national and international events such as the Royal Wedding, Commonwealth Services and the Olympics, Jain representatives are being invited.
Need:
To bring greater awareness of Jainism, its practices and values to the wider public in the UK, to serve the local and visiting Jains, the trustees felt that a traditional architecturally magnificent Jain Centre was needed in London. This centre will be a place of worship and study for all major Jain traditions and a global hub for disseminating of Jain values. It will serve as a place of multifarious activities such as education and training, cultural and spiritual activities, yoga, meditation and healthy living for the welfare of the local community.
