The spacious building at 64-68 Colindale Avenue was purchased in 2010 for the development of the Jain Centre London.
Planning permission for the change of use from an industrial site to a place of worship and community centre was granted in October 2010. The premises had some interim works to provide a Jain temple, auditorium, seminar rooms, educational wing, administrative infrastructure and community facilities.
In January 2013, further planning permission was obtained to demolish the present building and construct a three-floor Jain Centre with a place of worship, community centre with an auditorium and other community facilities.
To bring greater awareness of Jainism, its practices and values to the wider public in the UK, to serve the local and visiting Jains, the centre will be a place of worship and study for all major Jain traditions and a global hub for disseminating of Jain values. It will serve as a place of multifarious activities such as education and training, cultural and spiritual activities, yoga, meditation and healthy living for the welfare of the local community
